Washington Area Bicyclist Association (WABA) in partnership with People’s Book presents author, Heidi Beierle, for a book talk and signing. Heidi Across America is the story of one woman pedaling America solo. Headed to the Preserving the Historic Road Conference in Washington, DC, and studying bicycle tourism and rural economic development along the way, Heidi was searching for a way out darkness. A slow travel adventure story and love letter, Heidi Across America is about coming to love America and finding space in your own heart for the beautiful and feeling person you are.

During Heidi’s talk, she’ll use examples from this journey to describe a slow travel philosophy. Slow travel is Heidi's answer to: What does the future of travel look like? Her talk examines climate-friendly transportation options and equitable access to outdoor recreation, giving consideration to the effect of transportation on the environment and barriers people may experience to reach outdoor spaces. Heidi provides a simple framework anyone can use to make slow travel their own.
